If one thing’s for certain, it’s that Europe loves its diesels. Even more so when they come tuned with more power, wilder looks, and crisper handling. On that note, German tuner Lumma Design has released the CLR X530, a tuned version of BMW’s 3.0-liter twin-turbodiesel six-cylinder BMW X5 "sport activity vehicle."

A reprogrammed ECU, free-flow air filter, and performance exhaust system lift power from 286 horses and 428 lb-ft of torque all the way up to 330 horsepower and 487 lb-ft. Not bad, for what appears to be fairly mild tuning. Could it be that BMW is being pessimistic about its power ratings, or perhaps they’ve purposely bottlenecked the car in the name of fuel economy? Who knows.

The usual body modifications are present as well, with a full aerodynamic kit including a front spoiler, new rear bumper with diffuser, and new side skirts. The stiffened chassis and 22-inch powder coated wheels seal the deal – unless you’d also like to add on the optional roof spoiler, carbon fiber hood, or aero mirrors and headlight covers. Head over to the Lumma Design website for more photos.
