5-speed difficult to find reverse?

Hi,
My '94 5-speed manual 318i is very difficult to shift into reverse. Any suggestions or idea as to what could be my problem? Is this coimmon?

Make sure the vehicle comes to a full stop, shift to neutral and let the clutch petal all the way back out. Then, push the clutch in and shift into reverse. Try that and see if it is any easier.

How many miles are on the car and when was the last time the transmission fluid was changed?

If the rubber transmission mounts are badly rotted/worn, the shifter linkage can bind.

Or your shifter bushings could be MIA.
